Happy Holidays from all of us at CompassData!     December 2011

Santa knows: Control Freaks go anywhere, any time, to collect Ground Control Points

To fulfill an order for Ground Control Points, CompassData Control Freaks are collecting in Alaska - in December and January. That's how tough we are, folks. Here's a picture taken last week near Anchorage, Alaska.

In December, there are five hours of daylight per day in Anchorage, and three hours, forty-five minutes of daylight in Fairbanks. That gives us enough time to shovel the snow away from our photoidentifiable features and get those GCPs!

Utility Mapping: Map, Model, Manage and Maintain Your Distributed Facilities

Utility companies have to map, model, manage and maintain their distributed facilities and networks optimally to meet new customer expectations and industry compliance regulations. It’s not uncommon that utilities are still relying on inaccurate paper maps, hand-drawn notes or worker recollection on where assets are - even those as crucial as water or gas mains, valves, hydrants, etc. Repair and replace utility lines more efficiently and realize ROI quickly in an investment in utility mapping.

CompassData offers extensive experience in field data acquisition and conversion services, along with best of the breed software application capabilities.

With Utility Mapping in place, you can:

  • Develop more efficient project planning for maintenance and repair programs
  • Logically store locations and attributes of all assets
  • Make better decisions based on comparison data of exactly what is where (lines, base maps, equipment age and condition)
  • Create user-friendly access to information through GIS mapping of data
  • Make updating efficient, simple and fast
  • Work with your local municipal, county or state GIS data set for digital viewing of how the entire infrastructure works together
  • Produce printable maps and also use GIS on handhelds or internet-enabled laptops for on-site, in the field productivity
